SHAYKH SHAH JAHANGIR

In the book Seerat-e Fakhrul Arifeen published in 1934, the following story is related by a disciple (mureed) of Hazrat Shah Jahangir (II) Fakhrul Arefin Abdul Hai Raḥimahullāh :

I was once traveling through a jungle with bags of rice during a time when food was scarce. This jungle was not used for travel but I had passed thorough it safely before so I thought that nothing would happen to me.

Suddenly, I saw two terrifying armed burglars (dacoits) in front of me. One of them was holding a machete and the other had a stick. I was completely alone with them in the middle of the jungle. I heard one of them say to the other that if I tried to fight back, they would murder me in the jungle.

I was extremely scared for my life and desperate for any help. After losing all hope, I remembered my shaykh as the last resort, and promised that if Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’la saved me from this danger, I would be in service of my shaykh. I then felt some hope in my heart that I would be helped.

I saw the two burglars looking confused for some time. Then they both suddenly ran towards me and fell at my feet. They began asking me for forgiveness because they believed I was a magician. They told me that when they thought of murdering me, I would suddenly disappear. But when they decided against it, they would see light in their eyes. I told them to leave and we went our separate ways. I thanked Allah with all my heart for saving my life and my property.

When I reached my destination, I bought some food items and then went to visit my shaykh. As soon as he saw me, my shaykh said “Did you really get scared? Know that whoever tries to harm you, will be destroyed! Don’t despair!”

O’Lord give our heart life and nourishment, for the sake fo Mawlana Abdul Hai

Dilko hamare ya Khuda de zindagi tur taazgi, Shah Muhammad Abdul Hai Maqbool Ud Duwa ke vasthe.
